Steelers QB Aaron Rodgers has "slight break" in non-throwing hand, hoping to play in Week 12 reports say
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has a "slight break" in his non-throwing hand that caused him to miss the second half of Sunday's game against Cincinnati, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter.
Schefter reported late Sunday that Rodgers is expected to undergo further testing to determine the full extent of his injury.
"It now is shaping up to be Steelers QB Mason Rudolph vs. the Bears next week," Schefter said.
Rodgers, the NFL's oldest active player at age 41, appeared to be injured during a drive late in the first half. He was illegally hit twice by the Bengals during the drive, resulting in roughing the passer penalties on Cincinnati both times.
The four-time NFL MVP was seen grabbing his hand before heading to the locker room before halftime and was deemed "questionable" to return by the team.
Rodgers never re-entered the game, finishing the day 9 of 15 for 116 yards with a touchdown at the time of his exit.
Mason Rudolph replaced Rodgers with the Steelers leading 10-9 early in the third quarter. Rudolph would finish the game 12 of 16 for 127 yards and one passing touchdown, leading the Steelers to a 34-12 victory and a 6-4 record on the year.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Rodgers will be evaluated on Monday to determine the full extent of the injury.
Rodgers "does not want to miss a game," new report says
Fellow NFL insider Ian Rapoport shed more light on Rodgers' injury on Monday morning, confirming that Rodgers suffered a "tiny fracture" in his wrist.
Despite the injury, Rodgers is allegedly pushing to play in Week 12's matchup against the Chicago Bears.
"Aaron Rodgers, to my understanding, has told people close to him that he will be back very soon," Rapoport said. "He has told more people close to him that he does not want to miss a game. He is pushing to play in this [Bears] game."
