Steelers Fans Celebrate Playoffs At Downtown Rally

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) - Playoff fever is reaching a fever pitch. The Steelers have arrived in Cincinnati, and the terrible towels were waving Friday in the courtyard of the Allegheny County Courthouse.

Steeler fans packed the courtyard, to send energy vibes all the way to Cincinnati.

And it wouldn't be a Steelers rally without the "Ultimate Fan." Bud Rechtenwald says moments like this keep the old heart pumping.

"Like last week, it was pumping like you can't believe. Especially when they threw that interception on the goal line. Whoo! Hurt me!"

Black and gold was also evident in bakery products.

"We are giving out free cookies for the Steelers!" cries Michele Dawson-Smith of the County Executive's office.

Once a fan, always a fan. Same goes for players, like former nose tackle Chris Hoke.

"I love seeing the fans get so excited," he said. "I love these playoff games. You play for the playoffs. You play to get into this, get in the tournament and see what happens."

Mayor Bill Peduto, Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and former Steeler Chris Hoke were all present to cheer on the team with fans and toss prizes into the crowd.

The KDKA-TV Morning News crew got into the spirit and decked themselves out in their best black and gold.
