Steelers Arrive At Saint Vincent College For 2014 Training Camp

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- If you've been going through football withdrawal, the wait is over. The Steelers have all safely reported to Saint Vincent College and are ready for the first day of training camp Saturday.

This is one of those odd years for the Steelers. There's been a lot of turnover this off-season. Some of the more veteran players are gone from the team. Something you don't see very often around the Steelers is all the new faces.

But on arrival day, that means it's a little more low-key coming in. Of course, the big difference is no Brett Keisel, so that means no farm equipment, no large construction vehicles, none of that kind of stuff.

There was one exception to the otherwise low-key arrival day: 34-year-old Ike Taylor.

Being one of the elder statesman on the team, he decided to come with some personality and style. He arrived wired up with a GoPro camera on his chest, shooting the media who were shooting him, and a Google Glass kit, shooting some first-person footage for the Steelers' website.

"It's a good feeling," Taylor said about the training camp. "From the OTAs, to the mini camp, to right now, like I was saying, man, this team with all these young guys and the energy, it's like the 2004, 2005 feeling."

That is the big theme this year, younger and faster, and that seems to be what the Steelers have done in this off-season.

At the end of arrival day, the team announced that they have placed safety Mike Mitchell and running back Alvester Alexander on the Physically Unable to Perform List to begin camp.

The Steelers also broke some news on their website Friday morning with word from Art Rooney II updating the contract situation with Ben Roethlisberger and talks, or no talks, about contract extension.
