State Supreme Court Rejects 11th-Hour Petition From Former Allegheny Co. Councilman Convicted Of Theft

HARRISBURG, Pa. (KDKA) -- The state Supreme Court rejected an 11th-hour petition from former Allegheny County Councilman Charles McCullough.

The 65-year-old is now ordered to report to court Tuesday to begin serving a 2 1/2 year sentence.

He was originally arrested in 2009 after he was accused of writing checks totaling more than $40,000 in political contributions. That money was taken without permission from the accounts of an elderly widow he represented.
