State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Butler Township

BUTLER TOWNSHIP (KDKA)- Pennsylvania State Police are looking into a deadly crash in Butler County.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. Wednesday along Route 8 in Butler Township. It happened near the intersection with Hansen Avenue.

Butler Township Police have identified the victim as 22-year-old Lindsey Dickey of Gibsonia.

Police say Dickey was headed north in the southbound lanes of Route 8 near the Greater Butler Mart. Police say she was speeding and passed a police cruiser just before the crash.

According to investigators, Dickey lost control on a curve hit several traffic signs and then an embankment that sent her car airborne for a long distance. The vehicle overturned and then landed on the roadway.

Dickey was pronounced dead at the scene by the Butler County Coroner's Office. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

State police had the car towed away from the scene around 5:30 a.m. and reopened Route 8.

Butler Township Police are investigating the crash.
