Ellwood City Standoff Ends Peacefully

ELLWOOD CITY (KDKA) – A man is in custody after a nearly seven-hour standoff in Ellwood City.

According to police, the incident started around 6 p.m. Tuesday at a home in the 200 block of Patricia Drive.

Officers initially went to the home to serve a warrant to a man who failed to show up for a court appearance.

At that time, he barricaded himself inside the home and refused to come out. The SWAT team was called as family members tried to convince him to come out of the home.

Around 1 a.m. Wednesday, the man surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody.

No one else was inside the home during the standoff. It is unclear why he was due in court or why he refused to come out of the home.

No other details have been released at this time.
