Sports Writer Peter King: Everybody Will Watch How Goodell Deals With Patriots

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan)- Sports Illustrated and Monday Morning Quarterback Writer Peter King joined The Cook and Poni Show on Tuesday morning live from radio row in Phoenix.

Peter weighed in with the guys on the story that has dominated the headlines for the week. That of course being DeflateGate and whether the New England Patriots are guilty of cheating.

King says NFL fans better be prepared for a lengthy investigation on this. He thinks it could be weeks or months before any kind of final word comes from the NFL on what happened and what the punishment might be.

"It's going to be hard to find, but not impossible to find," King said. "We out to be prepared for a 6-8 week period where they try to find the needle in the haystack. It's going to be awhile."

King also thinks that the pressure has been put on NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to come down hard on the Patriots if they are found guilty.

"I think it would be very difficult to claim Roger Goodell is not going to come down hard on the Patriots if he finds malfeasance," King said. "Everybody is going to be watching how he deals with the Patriots so I would doubt that he would be perceived as coming off light if he finds culpability on the part of new England."

King also talks to the guys about the chances of this finally being the year for Jerome Bettis.
