Spanou Leads RMU To WNCAA Tournament Bid

PITTSBURGH (93-7 THE FAN) - Robert Morris senior Artemis Spanou led the Colonials to an NCAA tournament berth for the first time in six years on Sunday.

She scored 30 points and brought down 20 rebounds as Robert Morris held off St. Francis (Pa.) 78-64 in the Northeastern Conference Championship Game.

Spanou made the most of her last game at the Sewall Center with one of the best stat lines of her impressive four-year career.

"This is definitely one of my best performances," Spanou said in an interview with John Phillips on Sunday night.

The Colonials will find out their seeding and opponent during the WNCAA selection Monday at 7 p.m.

"I'm really excited to see who we're going to play and get there," Spanou said.

Spanou was named NEC Tournament MVP and is a two-time NEC Player of the Year. Following the end of the season, Spanou told John that she will pursue a professional career and has two WNBA tryouts scheduled for April.
