One Killed In South Huntingdon Twp. Crash

SOUTH HUNTINGDON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A man died after he crashed his car in South Huntingdon Township on Saturday.

The crash happened just before 7 p.m. on State Route 981.

The Westmoreland County coroner's office identified the victim as 58-year-old Dennis L. Novak.

According to the coroner's report, Novak was driving his pickup truck north on State Route 981 when he went off the east side of the road and collided with a utility pole and a tree. According to state police, he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the road. Authorities also said speed was a factor in the crash. Novak was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma.
