Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum hosts annual Memorial Day ceremony

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Hundreds of people were at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum in Oakland on Monday for a special ceremony.

There were Civil War reenactors as well as a service to honor fallen service members.

"Memorial Day slides into the picnic, but it should start with memory of those who died serving our country and we need to stop for a minute and think about them, and all of our conflict and all of our times, and that's the real crux of the meaning of Memorial Day, and if we start there, then we can celebrate as Americans later," curator Michael Kraus said.

Inside Soldiers and Sailors, you can look at displays from the Civil War all the way through the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts.
