Snow, High Winds Expected To Impact Weekend

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – With the extreme cold refusing to leave, another round of potentially significant snow is closing in on the area.

According to KDKA-TV Meteorologist Dennis Bowman, the next round of troublesome snow is on the horizon and poised to move in for Friday night and Saturday.

Snow from this system will begin Friday night after 9 p.m. It will gain intensity overnight and into the day on Saturday.

It appears that three inches of accumulation is a good bet for the Pittsburgh area with up to six inches in the Laurel Highlands.

The other issue for Saturday will be the gusty winds. Northwest winds will gust up to 30 mph or higher and will create blowing and drifting conditions and reduced visibilities.

Wind chills will be sub-zero most of the day as well.

Friday night's low temperature will be around 13 degrees, while Saturday's actual high will be around 29 degrees.

Be prepared for harsh travel conditions late Friday night and through the day on Saturday as a result of the storm.
