Snow Continues To Blanket Pittsburgh Region

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The snow has been coming down for hours Sunday.

And it won't stop anytime soon.

A winter weather advisory from the National Weather Service went into effect overnight and will remain so until Monday afternoon.

NWS says 2 to 4 inches of snow are expected in Allegheny County. The NWS also advises that the snow could turn into freezing rain this evening.

"There will be a mixed bag of precipitation moving in early [Sunday] morning. North of I-80, it's going to be all snow. From I-70 south, it's mostly going to be a mixed bag and the line will fluctuate as the day goes on," said KDKA's Jon Burnett.

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for several surrounding areas. Listed below is the snow expectation by county:

Armstrong: 4-8 inches
Butler: 4-8 inches
Cambria: 3-5 inches
Clarion: 4-8 inches
Crawford: 5-9 inches
Indiana: 4-8 inches
Jefferson: 4-8 inches
Lawrence: 4-8 inches
Mercer: 6-10 inches
Venango: 6-10 inches

Although the snow let up Sunday night, more snow is expected overnight into Monday.

KDKA's Jon Burnett says to expect a coating to an inch of snow.

Officials are also advising people to be careful on the roads as hazardous travel conditions are expected through the storm.
