PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- People living with sleep apnea may soon no longer have to wear those big bulky masks to bed.

The FDA approved a new implant for patients called The Remede System.

The small battery pack is surgically implanted under the skin in the chest area.

It stimulates a nerve located in the chest that is responsible for sending signals to the diaphragm to stimulate breathing.
