Single Gunshot Wound To The Head Killed Both Sisters In East Liberty

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- According to the County Medical Examiner, 38-year-old Sarah Wolfe and her 44-year-old sister Susan Wolfe both died from a single gunshot wound to the head.

Their bodies were found in the basement of their home on Chislett Street in East Liberty on Friday.

Susan Wolfe worked at Hillel Academy in Squirrel Hill. When she didn't show up for work on Friday, a co-worker became concerned and called police.

"It wasn't like her," said Sam Weinberg. "She never missed work, she never was late. We called her, we texted her, we emailed her, she didn't respond. Our CEO Dan Kraut asked to call police and we did."

Police say there were no signs of forced entry. Detectives continue to follow leads and talk to people who knew the sisters.

Yesterday, police found Sarah Wolfe's lime green Ford Fiesta about a mile away on South Whitfield Street. The Iowa native was a pediatrician and psychiatrist. She had been with UPMC's Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic since 2007.

Susan Wolfe moved here from Clinton, Iowa to live with her sister who recently bought the house on Chislett Street. She was a pre-school teacher's aide working with 3-year-olds.

"She was really great," Weinberg said. "I mean, all the kids loved her. They're going to miss her. She was a really great teacher, very devoted. She cared a lot about her job."

Police aren't saying much about the investigation. In the meantime, family friends and co-workers are searching for answers and hoping for an arrest.
