EAST LIBERTY (KDKA) – Police are investigating after shots were fired in East Liberty early Friday morning.
According to police, officers responded to the 6100 block of Penn Avenue around 3:30 a.m. after receiving a ShotSpotter notification.
Officers blocked off a section of Centre and Penn Avenues as they conducted their investigation. At least 17 evidence markers on the ground indicated where police had found shell casings.
Meanwhile, a gun was found next to a dumpster near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Kirkland Street. It is unclear if that gun was used in this incident.
A man was also found in the area and police believe he may have been involved in the gunfire. When he was spotted, police say he tried to run, but they were able to detain him with a Taser.
No one was hit when those shots were fired.
So far, no arrests have been made, including the man who was detained. The investigation is ongoing.
