Shaler Twp. Home Heavily Damaged By Fire, Family's Dog Missing

SHALER TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- A home in Shaler Township was heavily damaged when fire broke out there early Tuesday morning.

Firefighters were first called to the home on Bluestone Drive around 5:45 a.m.

Shaler Township Police say everyone was able to get out of the home safely.

However, there was extensive damage, especially to the roof of the structure.

Police say the family's dog ran from the home when the fire broke out. The black Labrador-Shepard mix answers to the name Bear. The family says he's very friendly. After Shaler Police asked for help finding Bear, he was found.

The Shaler Township and Allegheny County fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
