Shaler Police Exercising Cleaning Protocol Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) -- Police officers are among those dealing with the unknown public health threat of Coronavirus when dealing with 911 calls.

For Shaler Police officers, they have gloves, masks, and goggles they are using to help stay safe.

They also are wiping down their cars regularly.

The department lobby is closed to the public to help protect everyone as well.

The officers say that the County 911 system is asking questions related to COVID-19 when taking calls, and police getting those updates helps keep everyone safe.

The officers are also working a mandatory 12-hour shift instead of a three-shift rotation.
