Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Several Counties In Area

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Crawford, Erie, Lawrence, Mercer and Venango Counties until 9 p.m. Sunday.

A tornado warning was issued for northeastern parts of Crawford County and southeastern parts of Erie County, set to expire at 4:45 p.m.

A strong cold front is pushing through Western Pennsylvania and touching off showers and thunderstorms.

Sunshine breaking through late this afternoon will increase daytime heating and instability and lead to the development of some thunderstorms that could contain gusty winds and heavy downpours.

Once the front passes and the sun sets, our risk of storms will subside and we're in for a chance of a shower or thunderstorm Monday with cooler, more seasonable early June temperatures all week long.
