Several Injured After Car Crashes Into Hair Salon

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Several people were injured after a car crashed into a hair salon in Butler County.

It happened at the Hair Specialists in the Moraine Pointe Plaza on New Castle Road just before noon.

Medical personnel rushed to the scene. Butler Memorial Hospital says four patients were treated there. A fifth was taken by helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.

The severity of their injuries is not known.

Kathy Kelley, who works at the salon, sat just a foot away from the car when it plowed into the storefront.

"Oh my God," she said. "God was here today. I mean honestly. The girl that was working in there did not get hurt. We have two girls whose stations are completely demolished and they were off today, which we're grateful because they would have been gone."

Employees were visibly shaken after the crash. Some customers literally pushed by the car.

Blood was evident on the floor when we arrived.

Salon equipment askew.

As for the driver, police say he may have experienced a medical emergency which resulted in him losing control.

"You could tell something was wrong," Kelley said. "The first thing you think is they've been drinking or something, but he wasn't ... he was disoriented."

Owner Olga Pirilla says the salon may temporarily relocate as the cleanup continues.

"We have our customers who support us and everybody is faithful. We're going to be OK," she said.

Butler Township Police are investigating.
