Search For Suspect After Brentwood Pharmacy Robbed

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Police were called to the scene of a robbery in Brentwood Sunday morning.

It happened around 11 a.m. at the Spartan Pharmacy on Route 51.

Police say a man handed the clerk a note demanding the drug Oxycontin.

Initial reports indicated that the man was armed, but police did not confirm whether that was true. He did walk out of the store with an undetermined amount of the drug, though.

And Sunday was not the first time the pharmacy's Oxycontin supply was targeted by thieves.

Video surveillance from April shows a man entering the pharmacy and handing the clerk a note as well, the clerk cooperated and gave the robber drugs and he left.

Police say in today's instance, the suspect fled on foot, out into busy Route 51 and was almost hit by a car.

The suspect is described as a white male, wearing a yellow hoodie and sunglasses.

Before the robbery last year, Spartan says it was robbed on two other occasions for the same drug. It's a powerful addictive narcotic that treats moderate to severe pain.

Brentwood police are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call them.
