Scout Profile Of Potential Steelers 1st Round Draft Pick

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) – Many mock drafts have the Steelers selecting a cornerback with their first pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. However, Kirk Larrabee of 247Sports.com has a scouting profile of a defensive end/outside linebacker the team could be looking at.

According to Larrabee, the Steelers could be interested in Mississippi State defensive end/outside linebacker Preston Smith.

The 6-foot-5-inch, 271-pound Smith recorded 15 tackles for a loss and 9 sacks, while being named to the First-Team All-SEC.

Smith primarily played defensive end at Mississippi State and it's not known whether the Steelers would use him at that position or transition him to an outside linebacker role.

Smith is believed to fall somewhere between the Steelers' first and second-round pick, so his availability will be in question.
