Gold Coin Worth Nearly $1,800 Donated In Salvation Army Kettle

By: KDKA-TV News Staff

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- The Salvation Army is thanking the person who dropped a gold coin worth nearly $1,800 into one of its kettles in South Dakota.

It happened in front of a Wal-Mart in Rapid City.

The money will help about 6,000 people this year, but there's still a great need because of the pandemic.

With fewer people out shopping and carrying coins, donations to the Salvation Army are down.

You can always donate online.
