S.C. Boy Gets Dream Of Throwing Out First Pitch At Buccos Game

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A boy from South Carolina was a special visitor of the Pirates Monday night.

Conor McManus, 9, has a genetic condition that makes him predisposed to tumors on his face.

He's had 13 surgeries in the last six years.

But Monday night wasn't about doctors or hospitals.

He was in Pittsburgh to see his favorite ball club take the field.

He also got a tour of PNC Park and threw out the first pitch at the game.

His mother says he loves baseball.

"He loves baseball, it's his absolute favorite," said Conor's mother Miranda McManus. "He spends a pretty good amount of time practicing. He plays, this is his first year playing fast ball."

The trip was made possible thanks to the Pirates and an Atlanta organization called "Bert's Big Adventure."

Conor said he couldn't wait to see Andrew McCutchen.
