Martin, Liriano Reject Pirates' Qualifying Offers

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- Russell Martin's management team has confirmed to KDKA-TV that they have officially rejected the Pirates' $15.3 million qualifying offer.

Francisco Liriano has also rejected a $15.3 million offer from the team.

Martin was in Chicago last week visiting the Cubs organization.

The 31-year-old catcher is seeking $75-80 million over five years.

The Cubs, along with the Blue Jays and Pirates, have expressed interest in signing Martin to a multi-year deal.

The Pirates will receive draft compensation if Martin signs with another club.

Players had until 5 p.m. Monday to decide to accept a team's qualifying offer.
