Runaway Barges Cause Problems On Mon River

NORTH VERSAILLES (KDKA) -- Runaway barges are causing some problems on the Monongahela River this evening.

The barges got loose in the area of North Versailles.

According to emergency officials, crews were planning to shut down the Rankin Bridge as a precaution, but they were able to corral the barges before that happened.

There's no word yet on how they came loose.

Barges have been contained on the Monongahela River. No closures are necessary and there will be no impact to the public.
