JEFFERSON HILLS (KDKA) - Three people were shot as the result of a fight at a bar in Jefferson Hills early on Wednesday morning.

Just after 1:30 a.m., police were called to Rum Monkey's Pizza and Pub for a shooting. Once they arrived, they found a 33-year-old man had been shot in the back.

He was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition.

Two other men had been hit by bullet fragments as a result of the shooting. They were treated at the hospital and released.

"Some locals that had an argument, a disagreement and I hope everybody is OK, that's from the bottom of our heart. We hope that everybody is OK and that they can heal," owner Ron Dulak said.

Allegheny County Police assisted in the investigation and learned that a fight occurred between three men and one of them pulled out a gun and shots were fired.

They are investigating the fight and will turn over any facts to the district attorney for possible charges.

The pub is now closed until further notice. The owner told KDKA's Shelley Bortz that he's never had any serious problems since taking ownership in 2019.

He said it is a huge letdown to be closed on the biggest night of the year, the night before Thanksgiving.

"We've done everything we could to make this a family-friendly environment. We try to do food, fun and entertainment," Dulak said.

A woman who lives above the bar said she knows the man who was shot.

"Nice guy, has his own business. He's got kids, he's married. He just wants to come enjoy a few drinks and relax and you can't even do that anymore," Maris Hillman said.
