PennDOT Crews Strike Gas Line In Harmar Township

HARMAR TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) -- Peoples Gas is responding to the scene of a gas leak along Route 910.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m. early Wednesday morning, a PennDOT maintenance crew struck a gas line near Armina Stone.

The roadway was closed for several hours between Commerce Drive and Locust Hill Road.

PennDOT is investigating whether the crew was in the wrong location or if the gas line was incorrectly marked.

PennDOT is working with Peoples Gas to reopen the roadway as soon as it is safe.

Peoples Gas know exactly where the line break happened, and are doing an assessment of the system before shutting off any gas flow.

They are doing this to hopefully prevent any customers from not having any gas.
