Rt. 28 Closed Overnight As Crews Work On Signs

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A busy stretch of Route 28 will be closed for several hours overnight.

Crews moved signs into place late Friday night to indicate the road was closed between the 31st Street Bridge and Chestnut Street overpass.

It's closed in both directions and will remain so until 8 a.m. Saturday.

As for detours, if you're headed inbound, you'll be pushed onto the 31st Street Bridge, onto Liberty Avenue through the Strip and onto the 16th Street Bridge.

Going outbound, you'll take East Ohio Street to Chestnut Street, cross the 16th Street Bridge, down Liberty Avenue and then across the 31st Street Bridge.

PennDOT crews will work to construct a structure that will hold signs over the roadway.
