1 Dead, 1 Injured In Fatal Westmoreland Co. Crash

SALEM TOWNSHIP, Pa. (KDKA) - One person is dead after a fatal two-vehicle crash in Westmoreland County.

According to 911 dispatchers, the accident occurred just before 8:45 a.m. Monday morning on Route 22 and Hannastown Road.

One person was killed, and another was injured.

The Westmoreland County Coroner said 87-year-old Huldah Holby died in the crash.

She was stopped at the intersection of Hannastown Road and was attempting to make a left turn on Route 22 before being struck by a Jeep that was traveling eastbound.

Holby, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner said.

Airbags were also not equipt in Holby's car, officials said.

The road was closed off during clean up. The New Alexandria Volunteer Fire Department says crews helped with extrication, fuel spill containment and traffic control.
