Rossi: Penguins Might Not Mind Making A Hire That Irks Crosby And Malkin

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The Fan) – Pittsburgh Tribune-Review Penguins beat writer Rob Rossi joined The Fan Morning Show on Wednesday to update the guys on the Penguins coaching search.

During the interview, he said that they may actually not mind hiring a coach that Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin aren't crazy about.

"Inside guess from the organization and from Rutherford and the people around him is if Crosby and Malkin don't like it, they might even enjoy that a little bit," Rossi said.

He explained that the team might like the idea of taking some power away from those two.

"The sense you get from people within the organization is maybe those two have had a little bit too much power, and that's one way you can sort of check the authority they have," Rossi said. "I get the sense that the Penguins wouldn't mind that, as a way to sort of set a tone. "There's been no indication that I've received from Jim Rutherford that he's even put meeting with Crosby or Malkin high on his agenda right now. He's got so much else to do."
