Robbers Rip Safe From Floor At Lawrenceville Family Dollar

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) -- A pair of impatient robbers got rough in their attempt to steal from a Lawrenceville Family Dollar.

According to the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, it happened around 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday.

A Family Dollar employee was leaving after closing the store on 56th Street when two suspects jumped from the bushes and pointed a gun at him.

They forced the employee to open the store and told him to open the safe. As the employee worked to unlock the safe, the suspects became impatient and ripped it from the floor bolts. They tried to open the safe but failed.

The suspects then tried to force entry into the cash registers but failed.

They took the employee's wallet and cell phone before running away from the scene.

The suspects are described as black males wearing all black with masks and gloves on. They are believed to be between 18 and 25 years old. One is described as approximately 6'2" and the other as 5'11".
