Police: Botched Carjacking Ends In Crash That Kills 3 Teens

RIVERSIDE, Ohio (AP) — A group of teenagers whose carjacking attempt was foiled by their intended victim fled the scene in another stolen car but soon crashed, authorities said, leaving three of them dead and another in custody.

The attempted carjacking occurred late Wednesday night in the parking lot of a shopping center in Riverside. The 33-year-old Dayton man refused to give up his vehicle and then pursued the teens' vehicle in a bid to get the license plate number, authorities said.

Someone in the teens' vehicle shot at the man, but he was not struck or injured, authorities said. The two vehicles eventually crashed around 11:20 p.m., and the vehicle the teens were in hit a tree.

Riverside police soon arrived on scene and found two of the boys who had been ejected from a vehicle. They were pronounced dead at the scene, while a third teen was pronounced dead a short time later at a hospital. They were identified Thursday by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office as Ja'Sean Davis, 15; Da'Real Wilson, 14, and Ronald White, 16.

A fourth teen was found and detained by Wright-Patterson Air Force Base security forces. He was treated at a hospital and then taken to a juvenile facility. Authorities said they would likely file charges against him sometime Thursday, but declined further comment.

The vehicle the teens were traveling in had been reported stolen Tuesday in Dayton, but further details on that incident have not been disclosed.
