River Rescue Quick To Action After Boat Takes On Water

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – A day on the water turned into a nightmare for one man.

He took his boat out for the first time this year.

He was on the Allegheny River near Blawnox when it started taking on water.

He says a drainage pipe failed and the boat filled with water, but he managed to keep the boat from sinking.

"Had to grab the oars and row over to shore as quick I could before it fully sank, got beached and called the coast guard," said boat owner Greg Neavin.

River Rescue pulled the boat to shore.

Neavin says he'll take it home, fix the part and be back out on the water soon.
