Rita's Offers Free Italian Ice On First Day Of Spring For 23rd Year

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – It might not feel like the first day of Spring, but it is and Rita's is celebrating.

If you feel like braving the slush and snow, Rita's will be giving out its annual free Italian Ice from noon to 9 p.m.

Today marks the 23rd year that Rita's has given away free ice and it says it plans to give away more than 1,000,000 free ices today.

And although Rita's has tons of flavors, mango is the most popular -- the chain says it uses more than 300,000 mangoes each year to make the flavor.

This year Rita's is also giving away prizes if you use the hashtag #ritasfirstdayofspring on social media.
