Ringgold Coaches Forced To Resign Amid Investigation Into Florida Trip

NEW EAGLE (KDKA) -- Two Ringgold School District baseball coaches have been forced to resign amid an investigation into alleged misconduct that may have taken place during a recent trip to a tournament in Floirda.

One of the coaches has been identified as James Coulter, the second coach involved has not been named.

There are allegations that team members were hazed and given alcohol and tobacco during the trip.

One angry parent, who did not want to be identified, told KDKA his son was publicly humiliated in a hazing episode that involved someone's bare buttocks.

"My son was in front of the hotel, in front of the team. He was held on the ground, arms behind his back and another kid's butt was put in his face," the man said.

Additionally, the parent claimed the players got a hold of expensive bottles of liquor and were given smokeless tobacco products.

"We got lucky as parents that these kids did not, that somebody didn't get seriously hurt. These kids don't know how much alcohol is too much," the father said.

Athletic Director Laura Grimm had agreed to give KDKA an interview, but when crews arrived at the school, security guards wouldn't allow them on the property.

On the phone, Grimm said the safety and welfare of the children is their priority.

No further information has been released.
