Residents Honored For Saving Elderly Man From Burning Home
ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- The Elizabeth Township Board of Commissioners tonight recognized two local residents by proclamation for their heroic actions on March 9, when they helped rescue an 85-year-old man from his burning home on Old Hills Road.
Commission Vice President Paul Saxon said the men "went above and beyond" and their quick decision-making may have saved the life of their elderly neighbor.
Tony Pinneri saw smoke and flames coming from his neighbor's home, he ran over, and kicked in his neighbor's door.
Pinneri told KDKA-TV News, "When I entered the home, there was probably a foot of smoke by the ceiling, I told him his house was on fire, and he was unaware of it."
I told him, we got to get out now.
Another neighbor, Pastor Tom Snyir, also took part in the rescue and he helped keep the fire victim calm, until firefighters and others arrived on the scene.
