Crews Pull Teen's Body From Connoquenessing Creek

PERRY TOWNSHIP (KDKA) -- Diver teams recovered the body of a teenage boy who went under the water Friday evening in the Connoquenessing Creek near Ellwood City in Lawrence County and never resurfaced.

It all started around 7 p.m.

According to emergency officials, search teams were called to the area off of River and Portersville Roads in Perry Township.

The teen was reportedly swimming with a companion when a strong undercurrent pulled him under the water and he was never able to come back up. That's when search teams were called in.

His family gathered along the shoreline during the search.

The Lawrence County Coroner's Office was also called to the scene.

The teenager has not yet been identified, but he was reportedly 14-years-old and from the Beaver Falls area.
