Reports Varying On Steelers' First-Round Draft Projection

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - While it seems like the Steelers' biggest areas of need heading into this year's draft are on the defensive side of the ball, the mock draft experts can't seem to agree on which position they'll be targeting.

The Steelers have the 22nd overall pick in this year's draft with most analysts thinking they'll look for a cornerback at that point, but that certainly isn't the consensus.

One analyst who sees it happening that way is Rob Rang of The Sports Xchange and CBSSports.com

Rang has the Steelers taking Michigan State cornerback Trae Waynes with their first pick, pointing out that new defensive coordinator Keith Butler is inheriting the league's 26th-ranked pass coverage.

Waynes is listed as 6'1", 183 pounds.

Dane Brugler, Senior Analyst at NFLDraftScout.com recently put out his most up to date mock draft, and he sees the Steelers going in a different direction.

Brugler points out the unknowns the Steelers have, as outside linebacker Jason Worilds is a pending free agent and Jarvis Jones not yet making an impact since being drafted in 2013. He says he thinks the team will take Kentucky Defensive End/Outside Linebacker Alvin Dupree in the first round.

The 6'4, 264-pound Dupree racked up 146 tackles, 24.5 tackles for a loss and 24 sacks in his four years at Kentucky.  In his first two years, Dupree played as a linebacker while moving to defensive end in his junior and senior seasons.
