Reports: Pens Defenseman Olli Maatta To Miss Remainder Of Season

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - According to multiple media outlets, Penguins defenseman Olli Matta's injured shoulder, which he had surgery on during the offseason and recently re-injured, has not responded well to rehab and will cause him to miss the rest of the season.

Maatta had been skating before practices and gameday skates to stay in shape, should his shoulder heal -- but it ultimately didn't heal as the team had hoped.

Maataa has been out since Dec. 6 and the future for his shoulder, and a second surgery on it, has not yet been made known.

On the year, the 20-year-old defenseman had one goal and eight assists in 20 games.
