Texas Rangers Hire Pirates Jeff Banister As New Manager

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Pittsburgh Pirates bench coach Jeff Banister has been hired as the manager of the Texas Rangers.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports and MLB Network tweeted out the news Thursday morning.

Banister was one of three finalists for the position along with interim Rangers manager Tom Bogar and Cleveland Indians bullpen coach Kevin Cash.

Banister is thought to bring valuable experience to the position, having served with Pirates manager Clint Hurdle for the last four seasons.
