Report: Steelers Won't Draft Based On Need

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pittsburgh Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert and head coach Mike Tomlin met with the media on Monday to preview the NFL Draft coming up on Thursday.

According to Kirk Larrabee of 247Sports.com, the Steelers do not intend on drafting based on need, despite glaring needs at cornerback and outside linebacker.

Instead, as Colbert put it, "I think we'll go into it very open-minded. Again, if you pass up a great player at any position, you're going to make a mistake that you'll regret at some point."

Tomlin went on to back up that sentiment, meaning the Steelers may not follow what all the experts have been predicting, and that's drafting a cornerback with their first pick in the draft.
