Steelers Claim Former Michigan QB Turned WR

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pittsburgh Steelers have claimed former New England Patriots wide receiver Devin Gardner.

Gardner was signed as an undrafted free agent following the 2015 NFL Draft and was taken on by the Patriots as an experiment as they transitioned him from quarterback to wide receiver.

The Patriots were successful in doing this previously with current wide receiver Julian Edelman who played quarterback in college at Kent State and College of San Mateo.

The Steelers will now take their chances on Gardner and hope for similar results in the college quarterbacks they turned to professional wide receivers like Hines Ward and Antwaan Randle El.

To make room for the move, the Steelers released L'Damian Washington.
