Report: Pitt Guard Durand Johnson Transferring From Pitt

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Following his year-long suspension from the Pitt basketball program, guard Durand Johnson is no longer part of the Pitt program and has decided to transfer.

Johnson appeared in 47 games during his career at Pitt, averaging 5.8 points per game.  With the loss of Johnson, Pitt's entire 2011 recruiting class is now gone as center's Khem Birch and Malcom Gilbert along with guard John Johnson all transferred to other programs.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Pitt basketball beat writer and 93-7 The FAN Evening Host Paul Zeise was the first to break the news.

Zeise also joined the Starkey and Mueller Show and said he wasn't surprised to hear the news.

"There was some talk actually when he got suspended in the fall that unfortunately there was some pessimism that he might not be able to get back, and of course, he didn't.  It's one of those things where they were kind of planning to have him back but kind of planning just in case they didn't get him back."

Zeise also shared with us parts of a conversation he had with Pitt head coach Jamie Dixon about the decision and you can hear that below.
