Pitt Football To Play In Armed Forces Bowl

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Pitt announced Sunday its football team will be playing Houston in the Armed Forces Bowl.

The Armed Forces Bowl is played on Jan. 2, with a noon start time.

Pitt's opponent Houston is 7-5 overall this year with a 5-3 conference record in the American Athletic Conference.

"The Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl provides our team with a great opportunity and challenge," Pitt head coach Paul Chryst said in a statement. "We are very appreciative of the chance to play a 13th game this year and do it against a quality Houston team. Our program looks forward to the entire experience—on and off the field—in Texas."

While there was hope Pitt and Penn State would meet in a bowl game this year to reignite the rivalry, the Nittany Lions will play against Boston College in the Pinstripe Bowl.
