Pirates Sign Travis Snider On Minor League Deal

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - The Pirates have signed free-agent Travis Snider to a minor league deal.

SB Nation MLB reporter Chris Cotillo was the first to report the deal.

Snider was recently released by the Baltimore Orioles after hitting just .237 with 3 home runs and 20 RBI in 69 games.

The Pirates traded Snider to the Orioles prior to the season and received minor-league left-handed starting pitchers Steven Brault and Stephen Tarpley.

Brault has pitched at both High-A and AA this season combining for an ERA of 2.83 and a 10-4 record over 24 starts.

Tarpley, having pitched exclusively in Single-A this year has a record of 10-2 and a 2.14 ERA over 16 starts.

Last year with the Pirates, Snider played a key role for the team as a pinch hitter and hit .264 with 13 home runs and 38 RBI.
