Report: Pirates To Extend Catcher Chris Stewart

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Coming off a year in which he hit .298 while appearing in 58 games and backing up starting catcher Francisco Cervelli, Chris Stewart has agreed on a new deal with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Stewart is believed to be one of the most consistent and reliable backup catchers in the league.

Stewart will again serve as the backup to Cervelli and could be around to groom the Pirates catcher of the future in Elias Diaz.
