Report: Pirates Scouting Boston's 1B Mike Carp

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Pirates may have their eyes on a first basemen, but they reportedly aren't alone.

According to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe, the Pirates and Brewers are scouting keeping an eye on Red Sox first baseman Mike Carp.

Last year, Carp had a .296 batting average to go along with 18 doubles and nine home runs.

Carp split time at first base and in the outfield for Boston last year.

Carp broke into the big leagues with the Mariners in 2009. In 259 career games, Carp has a .267 batting average with 27 home runs and 114 RBI.
