Pirates Option Polanco To Triple-A

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – The Pittsburgh Pirates have optioned Gregory Polanco back to Triple-A Indianapolis.

According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, it does not appear to be a long-term move with rosters expanding Sept. 1.

It's difficult as a rookie in your first pennant race, stuck in a 1-for-30, dropping his average to .241.

Polanco is hitting .241 with six home runs and 30 RBIs in 64 games with the Pirates.

However, he's run into a recent rough patch, which has left him out of the lineup several times over the past week.

The move allows the Pirates top prospect to step back and work through some at-bats away from the pressure of the pennant race.
