Report: Pirates Offering Pedro Alvarez To "Everybody"

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - Folks who call into 93.7 The Fan aren't the only people who want Pedro Alvarez traded.

Yahoo Sports MLB columnist Jeff Passan reported Thursday afternoon that Pirates General Manager Neal Huntington wants him shipped away, as well, in a tweet.

Knee-deep in the prime of his career, Alvarez has run into an identity crisis.

The asking price for Alvarez, or, in this case, the pleading price, could be shockingly low. This means that Alvarez could be destined for a non-qualifying team that could test him at designated hitter in August and September before making a decision on his future for next season.

Jon Morosi reported several weeks ago that the first-place Los Angeles Angels are in the market for a designated hitter.

Fangraphs.com has him as the worst defensive first baseman in the major leagues.
