Report: Phillies In Negotiations With A.J. Burnett

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) - News came out last week that Philadelphia Phillies General Manager Ruben Amaro no longer was interested in trying to sign A.J. Burnett, but that all changed last night as reports have surfaced that multiple teams are currently negotiating with Burnett, and the Phillies are one of them.

According to Phillies Beat Writer for MLB.com Todd Zolecki, it is unclear if a deal is near, but the odds of that happening have improved since Amaro downplayed the possibility of signing Burnett last Friday.

The future for Burnett has been back and forth all offseason as the Washington Nationals and Baltimore Orioles have expressed interest until backing off recently.

CBSSports.com Baseball Writer Jon Heyman joined The FAN Morning Show recently and told them he thought the odds were about 50/50 that Burnett would return to the Pirates.

Burnett went 10-11 for the Pirates last year with an ERA of 3.30 while logging 191 innings pitched and leading the National League in strikeouts per nine innings pitched at 9.8

Stay tuned to 93-7 The FAN for all the latest news on A.J. Burnett and the Pirates.
